Legendary Lacquer Cutter Doug Sax Returns to Analog!

Legendary mastering engineer Doug Sax has returned to the lacquer cutting fold. A new double 180g Absolutely Alive Doors set from Rhino/Elektra bore the famous TML-M stamp that hasn't been seen on new vinyl for many years. An email response from Sax confirmed that he's recently set up two of the four cutting lathes from the old Sheffield Labs days previously set up at MGM. You can find the TML-M or TML-X stamp on many of the greatest sounding records from the '70s and '80s. Sax said he's currently cutting parts for three Pantera albums, each on a double LP cut from 192K/24 bit masters sourced from 30IPS two track masters. "The energy is pretty amazing," he told me in an email. This is yet more great news for vinyl lovers.
